Job description/ToR

Specific duties

  • Initiating, designing, and assisting in the implementation of an organisation-wide Training Needs Investigation and Assessment
  • Planning, organising, and executing wetland management in-service training courses, including classroom teaching and field training
  • Contributing to the Institute's training programme and curriculum development process
  • (with KWS headquarters) designing and leading the National Wetland Inventory for Kenya and introducing a Wetland Data Base
  • Extensive networking with Kenyan wetland practitioners and scientists, and information dissemination
  • Participated as a member and Institute delegate in the Lake Naivasha Management Implementation Committee, a government endorsed community-based initiative to manage Kenya's 2nd Ramsar site
  • Participated as a member and Institute delegate in the Organisation Committee for the International Conference on Tropical Shallow Lakes and Humans, April 1999
  • Project management and administration (personnel coaching and performance appraisal, finances and procurement, policy)
  • (Volunteer coach of youth conservation groups around Lake Naivasha)
