Specific duties
- Initiate/maintain participative research & education programme development in close consultation with local stakeholders and partners in management and sustainable use of forest(-land) resources
- Identify new or incipient developments in Indonesian forestry and conservation; adjust the program to the implied research needs, particularly in spatial planning, and community-based forest management
- Co-ordinate and co-operate with other GoI/donor forestry projects (EU, GTZ, USAID, JICA) and organizations (CIFOR, ICRAF), and local NGOs/CSOs
- Co-ordinate project managers, and ensure progress and timely production of research results
- Encourage interdisciplinary co-operation and integration among research projects
- Guide and supervise financial, administrative, personnel, and logistic management
- Draft (multi-)annual work plans, and semi-annual progress reports in close consultation with the Indonesian Programme Partner (FORDA, MoF), scientific and programme co-ordinators/project managers
- Ensure adequate, timely communication with the Steering Committee, TBI, and FORDA (MoF)
- Stimulate general support, acceptance and application of the Programme's research results among users, policy makers, and other (research) organisations
- Initiate and stimulate the transition to a post-2005 partnership relationship with TBI to accommodate continuation of the programme
