Job description/ToR

Play a lead role in the coordination, planning, and management of the WWF effort to conserve the priority sites identified within the Mekong River and Dry Forests Ecoregions in Cambodia, working closely with the Cambodia Country Director, the relevant Ecoregion Leaders and project Managers.

Assist the Country Director to coordinate, develop, and monitor the implementation of all conservation plans, strategies, targets, and activities of the WWF Cambodia Conservation Programme, and report and communicate as necessary to the WWF Greater Mekong Programme, WWF Network, and other stakeholders. Support the Country Director in building partnerships, fundraising, and policy advocacy. Liaise closely with the regional Ecoregion Leaders on programme development, monitoring, and communications (all aspects of this work, including the planning, management, financial, and administrative aspects of the conservation programme).

Work as part of a team with other WWF staff, handling some matters directly and delegating other duties. Also work with government agencies at the central, provincial, and district levels, as well as NGOs, communities and other stakeholders.

Specific Duties
  • Ensure all WWF Cambodia project objectives and activities are aligned with WWF Greater Mekong Programme's conservation plan, and relevant Ecoregion conservation plans;
  • With support from the Ecoregion Leaders develop proposals, and secure funding for conservation projects in Cambodia;
  • Provide technical support to Project Managers and Senior Project Officers on project development, implementation, and monitoring;
  • Supervise and coordinate the Biodiversity Conservation Corridor Initiative Pilot project;
  • Manage the following specific tasks:
    • Budget - work with WWF's financial staff to develop and implement programme budget preparation, monitoring, and reporting activities; as well as guarantee the financial integrity and accountability of project budgets by following proper procedures for per diem, purchasing, cash advance, travel and other issues. Provide support to Project Managers in developing and managing project budgets.
    • Reporting - coordinate timely writing and submission of reports to donors; submit reports to the relevant Ecoregion Coordinators, who will provide input and ensure consistency of reporting.
    • Implementation - implement relevant project activities, monitor progress, and adapt project plans based on needs, obtaining donor approval when necessary.
  • Liaise and network with government and non-government agencies also working in the Dry Forests and Mekong River Ecoregions. This includes obtaining information on other relevant programmes and projects, providing information about WWF efforts, increasing cooperation and collaboration, negotiating and resolving conflicts;
  • Work with the WWF Country Director, Project Managers, communications staff, Ecoregion Leaders the media and other relevant groups on awareness and education related to Mekong River and Dry Forests Ecoregion conservation;
  • Maintain a close working relationship with the regional Ecoregion Leaders by responding timely to reasonable requests for support on programme development, monitoring and evaluation, and communications.

Selected Project Leaders, Senior Programme/Project Officers, and consultants supporting projects.

Working Relationships

Internal: Report directly to the Country Director and liaise closely with the relevant Project Managers, Ecoregion Leaders and Programme Director of WWF GMP to ensure programme compatibility across the entire Mekong River and Dry Forest Ecoregions.
External: All relevant stakeholders (donors, Government partners, NGOs, private sector organisations, and local communities).
